Optimistic but disappointed in Obama

This story is so stupid I had to post it. It's like sticking your hand in a fire and being surprised you get burned!

Conservative evangelical and Catholic leaders who went out on a political limb (aka abandoning core beliefs) by aligning themselves with the Obama administration are expressing feelings ranging from disappointment to optimism in their reaction to the president's decisions so far on culture war issues.

Although most of President Barack Obama's moves on abortion and stem cell research have been expected, some right-leaning Christian leaders who took a risk sitting down at the table with a Democratic president feel that several major decisions fall short of the common ground Obama had promised on divisive social issues. Nawww, really?

Obama's reversal of Bush-era restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research is the latest example.

"Thus far, I have been disappointed to see little give. There's been a lot of take," said the Rev. Frank Page, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention who serves on a month-old advisory board to Obama's White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. "I've seen little give in the area of relating to the evangelical community as far as life issues." Frank, newsflash, you're being used!

Others point out that Obama is, after all, a Democrat and supporter of keeping abortion legal - and he has promised to proceed with caution on stem cells. Not to mention every Christian with a brain should have known this long before they voted.

Obama "is not doing anything he hasn't said he was going to do during the campaign," said the Rev. Joel Hunter, an evangelical megachurch pastor from Orlando, Fla., and another advisory board member. "So I am not enthusiastic, but I'm not disappointed, because we knew what to expect. I'm encouraged he is not totally flipping to the other side. We've got to be patient here."
Huh? This guy is a megaidiot! What do you think will happen Joel? Obama will wake up one morning and suddenly be pro-life, pro-family join your facade of a church and live in peace and harmony?

One of the four main priorities of Obama's faith-based office is to find ways to reduce the abortion rate, an attempt at common ground. But shortly after taking office, Obama lifted restrictions on federal funding of international family planning groups that perform abortions or provide information about the procedure. If you kill a generation either by abortion or treating them like crops to be harvested for the medical market, eventually abortion rates will fall as fewer people are even born.

Obama's nomination of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a Catholic who supports abortion rights (There is no such thing) in conflict with church teachings, for health and human services secretary also has stirred the old culture war divisions.

Douglas Kmiec, a Pepperdine University law professor, Catholic opponent of abortion and former Reagan administration lawyer who became a lightning rod in the Catholic community for endorsing Obama, said he was encouraged by the administration's first seven weeks. What drug is he on?

He cited the abortion reduction goal, provisions in the stimulus package to help the poor and Senate approval of an expansion of State Children's Health Insurance Program, which Catholics on the left have promoted as a way to improve socio-economic conditions and reduce abortion rates.

Bottom line: Most of these so called pastors would not vote for Jesus if he ran for office because his ideas would be to restrictive and he would not seek enough "common ground" to lull these fools and their sad followers into a hypnotic trance.

AIG Bonuses - Pay The Stupidity Fine

By Shaun Pierce

Hey you with the pitchfork marching off to AIG ... can I talk to you for a moment?

Everyone is outraged at the bonus money being paid to some suits at AIG. I understand the reaction. I never was handed a bonus for doing a bad job. That means I never ran for public office. It's a joke my elected (and now offended) readers.

As the bank of Obama tosses billions of your bucks out the window, it only natural to get a bit pissed off, yet we must take a sober moment to direct our anger.

Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley went duck hunting with a cannon when he suggested that executives of the embattled financial institution AIG apologize, be fired and/or kill themselves for financial malfeasance. Wow. Maybe the death penalty for failure is what we need to the economy around?

Most of this shock and outrage on the part of our elected officials is about as real as a Rolex from a flea market. Do you remember the outrage over the Lehman Brothers bonuses? No, that's because they did not get a bailout when the well ran dry. They did what any respectable American business would do ... they went out of business.

Make no mistake Obama and his gang of politicians knew all about it this. There is no surprise here and there is no true shock or outrage. The problem is that does not play well with Americans who did not know about all this and the president needs to save his political capital that is beginning to fade. So the outrage tug-o-war begins. Which side is more angry?

President Obama has promised to do what he can to stop AIG from spending taxpayer funds on bonuses. While that sounds great, there is a huge danger lurking here. If the government cancels compensation contracts, it could start a dangerous precedent and result in more economic instability. Basically any contract could be worthless if the government knocks on the door. All these really smart bailout folks should have covered this long before the first dime was handed out to anyone. Fact is it too damn late now. Just pay the stupidity fine and shift the focus toward creating future contracts that don't require bonus payments in the case of financial ruin.

Liddy testifies in front of the House Financial Services Committee today. There are few sights as entertaining as watching members of Congress trying to outdo each other in moral outrage.

The Spiritual Buffet

By Shaun Pierce

I don't know how many of you caught Amy Sullivan’s recent Time/CNN commentary on the plight of Catholic Democrats, titled “Does [Sen. Joseph] Biden have a Catholic problem?” Raised a Baptist, Sullivan is now a Time magazine senior editor and author of The Party Faithful: How and Why the Democrats Are Closing the God Gap.

She suggested in her September 13 column that, this year, Sen. Biden faces the same rough treatment Catholic Democratic candidate Sen. John Kerry allegedly got in 2004 because of his support for abortion rights. The called to task Denver’s Archbishop Charles Chaput, and called him one of “a handful of the most extreme bishops” who had “targeted Kerry in 2004 but [had] become marginalized in the bishops’ conference—losing key leadership elections–in part because of his extreme views about denying Communion to politicians.”

Sullivan went on to suggest that Chaput is using a double standard in the 2008 election by criticizing Catholic supporters of Barack Obama, while turning a blind eye to John McCain’s support for embryonic stem cell research.

Let's look at the facts shall we? On September 7, the parade of bad logic, bad theology, and bad science rivaled only by Catholic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi views marched before the media. Sen. Biden said on NBC's Meet the Press that the question of when life begins is a personal and private issue. Then he said he accepted “on faith” that life begins at conception. But then he said that he supported a woman’s right to choose to terminate that unborn life anyway.

Once you toss those views out for mass consumption it is the duty of any Bishop to respond. Biden’s is running for national office and speaking to a national audience. As a practicing, self-described Catholic, he was defending an abortion policy gravely incompatible with Catholic faith. And he was talking to Catholic across the country. Should not the act of leading others into error or sin be acknowledged by clergy?

For my readers who are not Catholic let me explain something. The Catholic Church is not community of faith in which you get to share your own ideas of God and incorporate them into some personal custom theology. You either believe what the catholic churches teaches or you are not a Catholic. The problem comes when these public leaders distort what Catholics believe, what the church teaches and somehow suggest that any level of dissension is tolerated. They do this all while claiming to be really Catholic.

Individual conscience doesn’t have absolute sovereignty over reality. Conscience must be formed by the truth, which we learn through the counsel and teaching of the Church. If Catholics reject what the Church teaches on a serious matter, they break unity with the community of believers. And if they break that unity and then present themselves for Communion anyway they abuse the rights and the faith of other Catholics. Bishops have a serious duty to correct that. I only wish more Bishops would would do so.

Bishop Chaput actions should be applauded instead of condemned by those who dance up to the spiritual buffet where you can take the pudding and leave the brussel sprouts.

HARRY POTTER GETS POLITICAL SHOW ON MSNBC

By Shaun Pierce
I caught Harry Potter interviewing Bill Maher about.... Oh wait. I've just been informed it was not Harry Potter, but Rachel Maddow who has the new show on MSNBC.

My sincere apologies to Harry.

Anyway... Maher was asked by Rachel about the upcoming elections and about the democrats shift now in favor of off shore drilling.

Because we are so stupid as to believe that increasing the oil supply would lower prices, we Americans are "too dumb to be governed," according to Bill Maher.

While I have to agree there are stupid people as evidenced by the folks the give Maher a show, invite him a a guest like he has some valuable knowledge to offer, and shower fame and fortune upon him, even those poor souls are governed.

Note to Mr. Maher It does not take intelligence to be governed. It takes intelligence to recognize two liberal windbags who spew anger and hatred as political insight.

It's mildly entertaining in small doses, but these folks really believe this stuff.

Political Tide Changing in Pennsylvainia As Democrats Struggle

By Shaun Pierce

Things aren't very good for Democrats in this area these days. With the history of union power and Democrats (both dwindling), it's often assumed that the GOP has a real disadvantage in Pennsylvania. However, history does not dictate the future.

With 'Bonusgate' in the news and national and local campaigns generating excitement with voters, Democrats are facing a strong challenge and may pay the price by losing their slim 102-101 margin in Harrisburg.

Republicans have run the Senate for almost all of the past 25 years. While it's true there are now more than 1 million more registered Democrats than Republicans in Pennsylvania, what Democrats have done with their power leaves many looking for alternatives.

The corruption charges and allegations attached to long time officials and once promising new comers give the GOP and tremendous opportunity to expand their influence and take Pennsylvanians out of culture of corruption.

As "Bonusgate" plays out, how much affect it will have on state House races remains to be seen. The allegations are that some House Democratic staffers, in 2006, spent days and even weeks working on political campaigns and later were illegally rewarded with at least $1.2 million in state-funded bonuses.

To date, all 12 arrests have been of House Democratic lawmakers or staff members, including the former No. 2 Democrat, ex-Rep. Mike Veon, and Rep. Sean Ramaley, both of Beaver County. As the pay raise outrage of the last election still smolders in some voters minds, the political tide may be turning.

Attorney General Tom Corbett has said additional arrests are likely, and some state officials expect them to hit before Sept. 30. The next round could deeper ensnare Democratic leader Bill DeWeese as he presided over this corruption. Some are already calling on Mr. DeWeese to step down as House leader.

Whoever wins, let's hope the culture of corruption ends, those in power serve the people and the Keystone state gets back on track.

Wimps and Whiners: Thank you Sen. Gramm

Former Senator Phil Gramm took some heat for saying the United States was only in a “mental recession” and that it had become a “nation of whiners.”

How dare he? We are not a nation of whiners. We are a nation of wimps AND whiners who want the government to ride in and fix everything. I have news for you, they can't fix the problem they created.

I don't like paying more for groceries. I don't like $4.00 a gallon gas. It makes me mad, but I have to eat and there are places that I must drive, so I pay the bill and watch my money in other areas.

The old saying "what goes up must come down" is true and it applies to the economy. I'm no expert, but I do understand that there are "market corrections" and every bubble at some point will pop. What that means is, if times are good enjoy them, but do so knowing that the winds of changes will be blow and you better be ready.

There was a time when every office had a typewriter. The typewriter guy was on top of the world. How many of those things do you think they sell today? Was the government expected to bailout the typewriter industry?

The majority of people losing their homes are people that bought beyond their means. They dove in to dangerous loans and got bit. The banks gave money to people that are not able to pay it back. They bet and lost. Boo hoo Uncle Sam save me.

That fact is, despite all the doom and gloom, we have it pretty darn good here. I may not have prime rib every night, but I do have food to eat and I bet you do as well. Yes, some of my wants have been pushed aside for needs, but I do have a roof over my head. I bet you do as well. Politicians always want to "feel your pain". My pain is a minor cramp and not an axe in the head like some would have you believe.

President Bush just lifted the ban on oil drilling. Great, but why was there a ban to lift and why did it take so long? We had a gas shortage in this country in the 1970's. We should have been pumping oil for the past 30 years. There never should have been a ban in a free market economy. They handcuffed American companies. The blame for high oil prices goes back to every congress and presidential administration since Jimmy Carter.

Years ago we decided it was easier to write a check for oil then to get our own. The middle east gang pumped oil to us and we pumped zillions of dollars out of our country. Now that OPEC has by the gonads and threatening to raise prices to unthinkable levels if we drop a bomb on the head of wacko Iranian president Yaba-Daba-Do, people gasp. Well good morning Rip Van Winkle!

Put the American poor next to the poor in any third world county and we look like royalty. You have food stamps, shelters, subsidized housing, disability, welfare, job training & education, medicare, the list goes on. Working people pay for all this and it's stifling. Some really need help, others curl up to the federal mammary gland and never leave. That's destructive and wrong.

It's time we stopped moaning and groaning. If you want things to change stop bowing before the tree-huggers who would like to eradicate human kind so our flatulence doesn't upset the spotted owl. Stick a pipe in the ground in Alaska and let the polar bears fend for themselves. Plunge a drill into the sea bed and wave goodbye to OPEC. Don't vote for any person who won't get of their buttocks and get out of the way of American ingenuity and enterprise. The government is almost always the problem, not the solution.

The American people are the solution. We invented the car, the computer, space travel, the light bulb, telecommunications. We need to realize that government represents us, but they do not control us. When we forget that, we cease being productive and our dependence becomes lethal to the American Way. So let's get back to work and stop being a nation of wimps and a whiners. Thank you Sen. Gramm for the reminder.

A Losing Bet: The Pittsburgh Casino Game

Something stinks in Pittsburgh and it's coming from a half built casino. It's also coming out of Harrisburg.

Whatever your stance on gambling, it's approved, it's here and I don't see it going away. When this whole thing started, Pittsburgh had some big names with deep pockets bidding for the chance to bring the one armed bandits to town. The problem is two armed bandits from Governor Rendell to the Gaming Board members stuck their greedy little fingers in the deal.

Both losing bidders were better known and well-financed. Isle of Capri was going to build a $300 million dollar casino gambling facility in Pittsburgh and toss in a free arena for the Penguins. In a letter to the state Gaming Control Board, the Pittsburgh Gaming Task Force said the Isle of Capri proposal stood out among the three competing for the coveted casino license. No thanks said the state.

Harrah's also bid and was turned down. Only to later lend money to Don Barden. Apollo Strategic Value Fund LP, which has committed $150 million toward the slots parlor's financing, is part of Apollo Management, one of two private equity firms that acquired Harrah's for $17.1 billion. Harrah's owns a 50 percent stake in Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack, near Philadelphia.

So Barden won the prize. Just that fact is puzzling. Don Barden has borrowed money to the hilt. He just defaulted on a $200 million dollar loan. That's not good for your FICO score Don. Yet our government officials placed a big bet on him. Why? What's their payout? They gave him approval despite several concerning facts. Barden was part of a federal investigation in the mid-1990s. That's just the beginning.
In 2005, a federal appeals court ruled Barden's casino in Mississippi committed reverse discrimination by firing a white human resources director and replacing him with a less-experienced black employee.

In 1996, Detroit newspapers reported that a federal elections commission investigation determined that Barden co-signed an illegal loan for $50,000 to a Detroit congresswoman.

In Gary, IN city officials expressed anger when they learned that Barden negotiated a deal with the outgoing mayor to cut his casino's monthly payments to the city. Following those negotiations, former Gary Mayor Scott King went to work for Barden.

I could not help but wonder if Mr. Barden helped fund the gubernatorial campaign for a certain Philadelphia Mayor? From what I found, it doesn't appear that Barden has made any contributions to Pennsylvania politicians. However, he is friendly with Bill DeWeese who is the Democrat Majority Leader of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. DeWeese reportedly was Barden's guest at the Super Bowl in Detroit.

Now after construction has stopped because of lack of payment, Don Barden has been forced to give 75% control of the half built casino. So who's rides in to scoop up control here? Chicago real estate billionaire investor Neil G. Bluhm.

Bluhm's group is scrambling to keep their own financial backers after failing to earn a license for a planned racetrack and casino in Lawrence County. Still, to rescue Barden, Bluhm and his partners plan to invest $120 million.

Why would a guy with his own financial issues dump $120 million into a volatile project already under scrutiny? Because the gaming board begged him to. Board members urged Bluhm to move quickly to get construction started again. "Come through for us," board member Kenneth McCabe told him.

Bluhm's group Centaur has a financial agreement with a consortium of banks. That agreement stipulates that the Lawrence County project get a $50 million license by July 15, 2008 or risk violating the terms of the loans. Centaur already holds a state harness-racing license for Valley View Downs racetrack and casino, which is planned about 55 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

That's potentially one guy controlling 3 possible casinos in the area. But wait, there's more!

Bluhm is majority owner of Walton Street Capital who is listed as an investor in the proposed SugarHouse Casino on the Delaware River waterfront in Philadelphia. Construction on the project has been stalled by legal issues and neighborhood opposition since December 2006, when Bluhm and his team won one of two city licenses to build a stand-alone slots parlor in Philadelphia.

Now we are up to one guy having 4 casinos in Pennsylvainia and the main one just happens to be in Philadelphia. How nice for Gov. Rendell. Under Pennsylvania's gambling law, a majority owner of one casino site can have up to a 33.3 percent equity stake in another project. This is shady at best.

Dan Onorato & Luke Ravenstahl issues a statement on Majestic Star Casino:

“We are concerned about the recent issues regarding the casino, its ownership and finances. The residents of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County deserve to be informed about any changes in ownership or commitments made by the licensee. Therefore, we are requesting a presentation by the Gaming Control Board to explain the proposed changes and whether they will affect the casino’s construction timeline and opening date, as well as the funding of the new multi-purpose arena.”

There are a ton of questions and very few answers. Harrah's and Isle of Capri should be sent a note of apology and invited back to the table. Make this wide open for all to see. Forget these sleazy back door deals that leave you guessing as to who's getting paid.

The state has already placed a huge bet with our money and it's looks like they picked a 3 legged, blind horse to run their race. It's time for an investigation into all this.

There was concern about the tie between organized crime & gambling. That concern should include our elected officials in charge of this mess and the gaming board. We will be watching.

"Rock" of Ages

To me music is music. I personally don't place any "Christian" artist above any secular artist. In fact I don't even like using those labels. If I like a song I don't care much if it's Casting Crowns or ZZ Top.

What really bugs me is the attitude of some when it comes to music. How dare I listen to rock and roll and call myself a Christian? Well because I am and I do.

I've been to a number of Christian concerts. I also been to a number of other concerts and you know what, they are not much different. You have over priced food, over priced tickets, a guy who tries to look cool selling t-shirts and people dance and sing.

Sure the audience is usually sober at a Christian concert and I have yet to see an alter call at a Van Halen show, but when it's all said and done both concerts are entertainment and often out to make money.

I can't stand hearing the term "worship music" or "praise songs". If you are singing to God then sing. If you are listening to music then listen but don't tell me you are worshiping with your ipod in hand.

Music can be a wonderful part of worship. It can also be a distraction and we end up worshiping the song or the lyrics or the writer or the singer and we forget about the only one we are to worship.

If you want real Christian music I suggest you go here.

Obama: A Man of Faith or Falacy?

I don't get this at all. Obama as expected is attempting to court the "evangelical voters". At the same time he is campaigning on the other side of the fence.

Obama had a recent meeting that included Franklin Graham, T.D. Jakes and about 30 other religious leaders. Late in 2006, Obama had stood on the stage of Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church, declaring his faith in the context of fighting HIV/AIDS, gladly taking on the mantle of implied endorsement.

Now watch as he jumps the fence. In a letter to Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending "fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law."

Soon the Obama campaign will begin appearing on Christian radio and Internet outlets, and they’ll be hosting thousands of “American Values House Parties,” where attendees will discuss Obama and religion.

Not all leaders are falling for this production. Dr. James Dobson said “I think he’s (Obama) deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own worldview, his own confused theology” Amen to that Dr D!

When it comes to the issue of abortion Obama has said he want to "discourage the practice of abortion.” Yet he has a 100 percent voting record supporting it.

I realize that Obama is not a pastor. For that matter neither is Dr. Dobson. However, a Christian should have a basic knowledge of Scripture and what God does/does not allow.

In a recent speech, Obama claimed his support the homosexual agenda was based on the Sermon on the Mount, not on some passage in the “obscure” book of Romans. By "obscure" did he mean the part that most homosexuals ignore? You know the one that warns: “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another…. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” (Romans 1: 18, 24, 26-27). Heck let's just rip those pages out. They can only be considered obscure if they are ignored and forgotten.

My concern here is not so much with Obama. It's more with the evangelical lemmings that drool over the glow of limelight that is cast on them when Obama enters the room.

So who lined to meet Obama? Rev. Stephen Thurston, head of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., the Rev. T. Dewitt Smith, president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., and Bishop Phillip Robert Cousin Sr., an A.M.E. clergyman and former NAACP board member. Catholic constitutional lawyer Doug Kmiec; evangelical author Max Lucado of San Antonio; Cameron Strang, founder of Relevant Media, which is aimed at young Christians; the Rev. Luis Cortes of Esperanza USA; and Paul Corts, president of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Yet the campaign only released three names.

Let me address the "catholic" representative Doug Kmiec. Kmiec was denied Communion in April at a Mass for Catholic business people because he had endorsed Obama. While Kmiec is himself pro-life, his mere endorsement of Obama is damaging to the Catholic message. Just as Obama's support of abortion and homosexual rights is damaging to the Christian message. Are faith leaders already too blind to see this?

Nothing says I want multiple wives like a dress that would make Aunt Bee look like a hussy.

The website features photographs of children modeling the fashions. Choose from dresses, overalls, shirts, pants, nightgowns, sleepers, baby clothes and ankle-to-wrist underwear.

So if you want to dress your offspring in that hard to find "Children of the Corn" look you are in luck!

The Oil War

It's time to face facts. We have a bumpy road ahead of us. The outcome of the election does not present Americans any great options. No matter who's name goes on the mailbox we have some tough times ahead.

Gas and Milk are now on the way to $5.00 a gallon with no end in sight. Floods have wiped out crops in the Midwest so food prices are rising along with the cost of getting food to market.

Iran and Israel have their dukes up and if anyone even grunts in the middle east oil shoots up to another record high.

While the talking heads debate politics and the recession word, we are under attack and no one wants to admit it.

American productivity and therefore our entire economy depends on fuel. That fuel comes from oil. Sure you have nuclear, solar and coal but none of those move a truck or car. They don't power the ships at sea and we are vulnerable. It should not be a question of if we should start drilling and pumping our own oil. The question should be how quick can we get started?

Some want to present this as an environmental issue. Forget it. The oil was created naturally. We have safety measures that did not exist 20 years ago. I don't see the green weenies stopping the oil cartels elsewhere in the world.

This is not just about expensive gas. It's about national security. I have to have a passport to go to Canada now. I have to take my shoes off the get on a plane. Nail clippers are considered a deadly weapon. If you want to bring this country to a screeching halt, don't target people or buildings. You target the oil supply. It's like removing oxygen from the room. You won't last long.

Oil is the new weapon and we are under attack. Oil shipments that pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz have already been publicly threatened. Ayatollah Ali Khameni, Iran's supreme leader, has warned the United States "the slightest misbehavior on your part would endanger the region's energy security," he said. "You are not capable of guaranteeing energy security in this region." Oh but hey, let's pull out of Iraq so we are not even in the neighborhood!

Iran has a plan to open its own oil exchange — the Iranian Oil Bourse (IOB) — with the goal of becoming the dominant center of the Middle East's oil trade. Some of the major oil-producing countries such as Venezuela and a few of the larger oil consuming countries, most notably China and India, have already announced their support for the IOB.

The attempt at trading oil in euros rather than could lead to a huge drop in value for the American currency, potentially putting the U.S. economy in its greatest crisis since the depression era of the 1930s.

Instead of worrying about the devastating effects already beginning in our economy, the threat of shutting oil lanes in the Persian Gulf or Iran's uranium enrichment program, some are more interested in polar bears, global warming and keeping our path to energy independence blocked. If we Americans can agree on anything it should be our national security. This is not an obscure energy policy item. If we don't put politics aside and defend our self, we will discover that oil is the noose around and it get tighter everyday.

Soulforce Invades The Church

Shaun Pierce - Powerblog
Read more from Shaun Pierce
Willow Creek Senior Pastor Bill Hybels is the latest pastor has who has met with SoulForce. What is Soulforce? Here is their own mission statement:

The mission of Soulforce is to cut off homophobia at its source -- religious bigotry. Soulforce uses a dynamic "take it to the streets" style of activism to connect the dots between anti-gay religious dogma and the resulting attacks on the lives and civil liberties of LGBT Americans. We apply the creative direct action principles taught by Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. to peacefully resist injustice and demand full equality for LGBT citizens and same-gender families.

Pr. Hybels joins other high profile pastors including Bishop Eddie Long, Bishop Harry Jackson who have met with the group.

It's clear that Soulforce seek to manipulate the media in promoting their cause. They do this by publicly engaging "celebrity pastor". Last month they issued an invitation to families from Joel Osteen and Lakewood Church-- the largest church in the U.S. -- to share a picnic with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) families. It came from "Pastor" Jay Bakker of Revolution NYC church.

I have nothing against open, honest dialogue about real issues but this not about seeking truth. This group is promoting and seeking acceptance and approval of a sinful lifestyle. Would we entertain proponents of pre-marital sex, adultery, group sex, or bestiality? That may one of the next groups formed and want approval of the church.

The term used in the Soulforce mission statement is not accurate. Homophobia is fear of homosexuals. I personally don't fear them. Is is also not synonymous with "religious bigotry".
True bigotry is based on false beliefs and a ideology of superior and inferiority. That's not that case with Christians who base homosexual opposition on the Word of God. it's not my idea, it's God's commandment so Soulforce and all the other activist need to take it up with Him.

Homosexual behavior is NOT morally superior to other kinds of sexual sin - regardless of the acceptance it currently enjoys in our culture. In fact, God calls it an abomination. Again, that's not just a mere opinion developed by some pastor.

Soulforce is dangerous because of the lack of honesty. They are composed of people who claim to be Christians yet promote out and out rebellion toward the will of God.

So why don't we and all these pastors seek his counsel on the matter. "But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindlers not even to eat with such a one. - I Corinthians 5:11

I know there is a natural response to want to build a bridge and seek "common ground". I get that. But dialogue with "wolves in sheeps clothing" lends credibility to the wolves. I learned about all this from a Soulforce press release, not a press release from Hybels, Osteen, Jackson or any other.

We currently have some false churches who have traded God's Word for a feel good, do what you want gospel. Acceptance of homosexual behavior in the church should not be up for discussion. That fact that is is should sound a great alarm.

I keep saying this over and over. Some think I 'm just cheering my "team" but I'm not. Most churches out there are not churches. The are social groups for people who share common ideas. They worship those ideas together. It has very little (if anything) to do with God.

Anyone can say they are a pastor. Anyone can start a church. Yet discernment and wisdom do not automatically come with such claims. Please discover the tell tale signs of a true church and put yours to the test.

Presidental Pastor Problems

Back on May 6th I wrote a piece for Townhall on John McCain and his pastor problems.

Now comes word the John McCain has finally rejected the endorsement of televangelist John Hagee. The decision came after an audio recording surfaced in which the Hagee said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. He also has linked Hitler to the Catholic church, suggesting it helped shape his anti-Semitism.

This is crazy talk that has no basis in Scripture. Most disturbing is it comes from a man who claims to be a pastor and has a large number of people following him and financially supporting his efforts.

Hagee in response to McCain jettison of his endorsement said he was withdrawing the endorsement. It's a kind of " you can't fire me, I quit" response.

Here is what I just can't comprehend..... Hagee (and others like him) spew this stuff under the label of Christan preaching. Yet no one objects when he slips his own opinion in as gospel. That is what makes Hagee not only wrong, but dangerous. People must know clearly what is the word of God and the opinion of man.

The other part that makes me scratch my head is how a Presidential candidate doesn't know this stuff. The preacher has controversial views that were well-known before McCain accepted his endorsement. Does McCain not have a TV to watch Hagee? Does he not have a staff to research this beforehand?

It's not like Hagee came out of the blue and just independently announced his endorsement of McCain. McCain actively courted Hagee! He wanted those megachurch votes where people worship and vote like lemmings. That congregation in the tens of thousands and a huge television audience was very attractive, truth be damned.

But the problems don't end there. Rod Parsley is a man I refused to let on the airwaves of our radio show. McCain should have followed, but instead McCain sought the support of Pastor Parsley and the World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio. Another mega-church prize to win. Now McCain announces he is rejecting Pastor Rod Parsley's endorsement.

At a campaign appearance in Cincinnati, McCain introduced Parsley as "one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide." McCain's staff should all be fired for letting this happen. They were apparently unconcerned about Parsley's well-established denunciations of the Islamic faith. Parsley didn't hide it. Walk into any book store and pick up "Silent No More". If you can't read there are DVDs of his sermons about Islam.

"America was founded with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed," Parsley says, "and I believe Sept. 11, 2001 was a generational call to arms that we can no longer ignore."

America was FOUNDED to destroy Islam? Did Thomas Jefferson know this? I don't remember "All men are created equal.... except the Muslims who we founded this nation to destroy". At least they don't only interject opinion in Scripture. I guess the Declaration if Independence is fair game as well.

Lord help our leaders if they don't know who they follow....

Save the Earth.... DIE

Posted by Shaun Pierce

If you really want a pristine planet then we must get rid of all the humans messing it up. That's the opinion of a new organization called the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.

I can't make this stuff up! They are recruiting people to remain childless for "the benefit of the Earth." I'm really thankful these folks have at least opted out of reproducing but I'm not signing up for their group.

It sounds crazy to most people, but we do have birth rates falling well below replacement levels in some countries. While this can be blamed on several factors ranging from the sexual revolution to delayed childbearing, we can't overlook the impact that the global warming debate has had on society's opinion of the family.

The green crowd continues to twist the so-called "climate crisis" into an excuse to push their agenda of population control. As a result, children are being viewed by some not as blessings but burdens who consume precious natural resources.

I don't understand how we have arrived at this way of thinking. We don't value human life. Abortions are fine. Yet when it comes to polar bears and spotted owls it's a different story. Will humans join the endagered list next?

We have lived far too long pretending that human life does not matter. If we don't change our thinking now, we do in fact volunteer for our own extinction.
